Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you accept?
We accept children ages 3–5 years old, typically the years leading up to kindergarten.
Is your preschool academic or play-based?
We are a play-based preschool, which means children learn through hands-on exploration, movement, and creative activities. Our curriculum still supports early literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking—just in a more natural, joyful way.
What educational philosophy do you follow?
Our approach blends elements of Reggio Emilia, Waldorf (Steiner), and HighScope—all of which emphasize creativity, curiosity, and whole-child development.
Do the kids do dance every day?
Nope! Although Little Steps Preschool is a part of Quickstep Dance Studio we are a fully-licensed preschool with our own curriculum and focus on your child’s overall development. We do include daily movement to support motor skills, coordination, and self-expression. But we will not be teaching your child how to dance during their preschool class.
What is the teacher-to-student ratio?
We maintain a low ratio to ensure personalized attention—typically around 1:8 depending on age and class size. The maximum ratio is 1:12. However, there is always an additional adult in the building to help bring down our ratios when needed.
Do you prepare kids for kindergarten?
Absolutely. We focus on developing social-emotional skills, language, problem-solving, independence, and a love for learning—all key for kindergarten readiness.
Do you provide snacks/lunch?
We do provide individually-wrapped snacks. We do not however, provide lunch. Food allergies are collected at time of enrollment.
Do you offer part-time or full-time options?
We currently only offer half-day enrollment options. However, there are additional add-on classes (tumbling, dance, singing) conveniently following their preschool classes, in order to help meet your family’s needs. We hope to offer full-time options in the future.
Is potty training required?
We ask that children be potty trained before enrollment.
How do I enroll?
You can enroll by attending our open house or visiting the classes page on our website. If you register by June 20, you’ll receive 50% off your registration/materials fee!
